My Rates

I like to be open and straightforward with what I charge my clients to ensure both parties are happy with the transaction. As such, here is a list of common services I provide and their corresponding prices. The list is by no means comprehensive! The clothes we wear are just as varied and unique as we are, so always reach out with your creative projects and we can talk on a case-by-case basis :)

Basic Alterations -

These alterations are simple, to the point where we don't need to book a fitting. Just send your inquiry through along with pictures of you wearing the garment, and we can move forward! Please note that if it's lined, it's going to be more expensive. When you have two layers of fabric, that is twice the amount of work and layers that need to be taken care of. So keep that in mind!

Hemming -
  • Skirt or dress: $13 unlined, $20 lined
  • Jeans and other top-stitched pants: $8
  • Cuffed pants: $15
Repairs -
  • Stitching down a frayed or popped seam: $5
  • Repairing holes in denim: $8 to $60, please send photos
  • Replacing a zipper: $10+, please send photos

Creative Alterations

These alterations are more involved than shortening or simple mending. Find a strapless dress you want to add straps to? Want your pencil skirt to have a more flared silhouette? Want a sheer lace panel in the back of that blouse you thrifted?

Well I'm your gal. This is a service not often offered by tailors because it requires a tremendous amount of personalization and getting to know the individual wearing the garment. These quotes are negotiated on a case-by-case basis, I'd love to hear your creative ideas!

One-to-One or one-to-few classes

3-hour Beginner Course: $99
  • You will learn:
    • Basics of your sewing machine, how to use it, threading, and basic stitches.
      • *It is important that you use your own machine. Sewing machines come in many different models and they all differ slightly in how they work. For best results it is suggested that you have your own working machine prior to the start of this course.
    • Basic troubleshooting when you run into trouble. I will work through the quirks of your machine with you and go over common issues you might encounter with your particular machine
    • Adjusting threads, needles, and stitches for different projects, when to use what and why
    • Receive a 10-page handout that covers all sewing machine basics, with step-by-step instructions for you to keep and refer back to
    • Ongoing support - text/email me any time you run into issues and we will work through it together.
  • You will make:
    • A sturdy drawstring bag out of a non-stretch material. This practical bag can be any size, typically used as a reusable produce bag or a decorative bag to protect books or journals.
Flexible one-on-one time: $35/hour, 2 hours minimum.
  • This is a custom-tailored (ha! get it?) option designed specifically for you. If you used to sew but haven't turned on your sewing machine in over a decade, or you've forgotten how some things worked, or you're a quilter who would like to dabble in garment sewing, or you are having trouble with a complex project, this is the option for you!
  • This one-on-one time is designed to be flexible both in content and instructional approach.
  • You will learn:
    • Advanced tailor techniques to suit your project, suggestions on project materials, patterns, drafting, fit, and how to translate your vision into reality.
  • You will make:
    • Anything. Seriously, if you see something on Pinterest you like, I will help you draft a pattern to make the thing.

Upcoming Group Classes!

  • None as of yet, but get on my mailing list to be informed when I am holding a class in your area next!

Machine Servicing

Standard servicing - Mechanical Machine $60

  • I will open up your machine to clean, oil, and grease it. I will make sure your machine is humming happily when you work.
  • This includes minor fixes that I can do while the machine is open. Definitely let me know if your machine is behaving strangely and I will have a look!
  • I will send you pictures and/or video of the machine while it's opened up, and any other info that would be relevant for continued the operation of your machine.
Additional repairs $20/hour + parts cost.
  • Not all issues are simple or easy to fix. If there are parts that need to be replaced or larger, more involved fixes, I will provide you with a quote before I get started so we can be on the same page about the repair and whether to proceed.
If you have a specialty machine or a particularly old machine, please contact me, because I love servicing machines and may offer you a discount for a chance to work on your machine!
